Although not published until 1845, it seems that Clara Schumann began writing her Vier Flüchtige Stücke Op. 15 [Four Fugitive Pieces Op. 15] as early as 1840.
The first 3 movements are very Romantic, with numbers 1 and 3 being very lyrical, while the second, Un poco agitato, is very Mendelssohnian.
The last movement, much more classical, breaks with the style of the previous three and adopts the character of a symphonic scherzo.
In fact, it is likely that these 4 movements were composed separately and brought together to form a suite for publication. The title Fugitive, while referring to their brevity, also underlines their free, contrasting, improvised character, and authorizes this formal freedom.

Born Clara Wieck, Clara Schumann is considered to be one of the greatest Romantic pianists, and in particular the creator of a large number of works by Johannes Brahms and her husband Robert Schumann.
Her intense activity as a concert pianist, and above all her status as a woman, largely overshadowed her work as a composer during her lifetime, even though she was a remarkably inspired composer who is only now being truly discovered and appreciated.

Along his university studies (DEA in musicology, University of Paris IV-Sorbonne), Frédéric Cellier was awarded three first prizes and a development prize at the CNR of Nice and won first prize at the International Competition of Musical Execution - soloist category – of Stresa (Italy).
He is the laureate of the Fondation de France and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and accredited teacher at the CNR of Nice, the CNR of Marseille, and at the CRR Olivier Messiaen of Avignon (France).
Frédéric Cellier is the interpreter of Francis Poulenc’s Sonata for clarinet Bb and piano with Jean-Michel Damase, Jean Françaix or Gabriel Tacchino, but also performs his own version for clarinet, piano and string orchestra of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in blue for Wynton Marsalis or under the baton of Adrian Gershwin, grandson of the composer.
Founder and artistic director of STRADIVARIUS Editions, he is the author of pieces of light music and a considerable number of arrangements in all styles and for all instruments acclaimed by numerous personalities in the music world:
